TAUEANGA, This Day. An easterly gale developed yesterday morning, with exceptionally heavy rain, resulting in a heavy flood" in Omanawa Eiver. Debris was brought down, blocking the intake, tunnel and causing a temporary stoppage of the electriciiv s»Pply from 3.30 to 7.30 at M'Larei/s falls, where- the new electricity works are nearing completion. The river rose nearly forty feet in under three hours. The main dam is just completed, the last concrete being put in'three days ago. The diversion of the tunnel and scour valve in the dam being unable to carry the water, a lake of over a hundred million gallons was piled behind tho dam before the water could go over the spillway. The engineer, Sir. Mandeno, reports that the dam stood the exceptional test without_ injury of any kind. No damage is reported in the immediato district.
