WOMAN MURDERED NEAR NEWCASTLE.

• SYDNEY, 21st May. I A couple, who gave the name o£ Turner, rented a cottage at Toronto, near Newcastle, a few days ago. The owner, I oil visiting the place last evening, and Jailing to receive, an answer, forced an entrance, and found the body of the woman in bed, covered with the bedclothes. The man was missing. The man had stated that they were married last Thursday. (Received 22nd May, 10 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. j The victim of the Toronto affair was found to have- dieft of laceration of the brain. Marks on her face and head indicated that some heavy instrument was used, and there was also a wound in the throat, inflicted with a razor. There were no signs of a struggle in the bedroom. , . , At 2 o'clock this morning, the police arrested Arthur Augustus Oakes, aged 23, at Islington, and- he will be charged' with the murder. . The woman has been definitely identified as Mona Beacher, aged 20, who lived with her parents at ' Ma'yfield Oakes is stated to be a married, man with two children, and employed by a well-known firm of merchants" in Newcastle.
