NEW ZEALANDERS NOT UP TO STANDARD. '

The New Zealand polo players were today eliminated from further play in the Australian-New Zealand Cup contests owing to their defeat, in the beaten teams matches by the Victorian "red" ■ ai\ T -Nw Victorians scored eight goals and New Zealand nil. The competition was not so one-sided as the scores would indicate, the visitors being several times unable to cap - splendid efforts by getting the ball between the posts. The Victorians were always more confident, and ? * 1 ? x! 5 ■ -colnkination invariably completed then- dashes to their opponents' citadel W.-Mackenzie, at back, was a tower of strength to the New Zealanders m heading off invasions, Lyons was responsible for frequent brilliant bursts, and C. Mackenzie showed his usual cons.stency. Their opponents, however, were too strong m all departments. Ihe series of games in which they have played indicates that the New Zealanders, both in quality of. combination and horseing, are not equal to the standard of the best Australian teams
