HUTT VALLEY POWER BOARD
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING.
The' fortnightly meeting of the Hult Valley Electric Power Boards was held yesterday. Present: Messi-3. J. W. M'Ewan (chairman), A. J. Hobbs, D. J. Bews, W. H. P. Barber, E. Wjndley, H. Jay, A. Walker, A. W. Press, and A. J. M'Curdy. On the motion of Mr. Press, seconded by Sir. Windley, it was decided by five votes to four to join the Wellington Employers' Association.
The Diocesan Office, Wellington, advised that it. had been decided not to dispose of the Tawa Flat section.
Miss Earp Thomas, ,Eastbourne, complained that the board's workmen had cut down and removed a pine tree without her authority, and asked the board to pay £6 (the value of the tree) to her. The matter was referred to the engineer. The secretary of St. Hilda's and St. John's Churches made'request for a lower rate for church lighting. On the, motion of Mr. M'Curdy the letter was received.
The Public Works Department advised that it agreed to the board's year coinciding with, the financial year. The result of this decision will be that the board started to take its first year's quota on Ist April instead of Ist January.
The application of the Lower Hutt Borough Council for a light at the corner of Pretoria and Council streets was referred to the engineer. The offer of W. L. Rothenburg to sell two sections at Tawa Flat for £160 was, on the motion of Mr. Hobbs, accepted. The secretary reported, on the method adopted in meter reading- in the past, and said that in future the organisation would ba improved. The report was received, and Messrs. Bews and M'Curdy were appointed a committee to assist the secretary in improving the method and to report on the means of transport of the meter readers.
