LEAGUE V. SOCCER
DP AGAINST IT IN AUSTRALIA.
In a letter placed before the Cbupcil of the New Zealand Football Association last evening from, the Commonwealth Football Association, complaint was made of tbe action of tbe League authorities in Australia in staging counter attractions to the matches agdßs'fc the English Soccer team, and the council was asked to take the matter np with the New Zealand Rugby League, On the motion of Mr. F. Campbell, 1&t council adopted th«( following resolution» This council deprecates the action or any sports body in running counter-at-tractions to another sports body when international games are being held, and views with regret the action of the Australian Rugby League in suggesting that they stage such matches in Sydney dur. i"s^ viait o£ the English Association football team, and that a letter be sent to the New Zealand Bugby League en. termg our protest against such action." Mr. H. I. Graves said that it ap. peared to him to be a most tmsportsman. .like thing to do. At the present tima Queensland was the premier State of Australia as far as League was concerned, and that was the State which had been asked to play in Sydney during ths visit of the Englishmen. It meant thai the Soccer people would be deprived of the use of the Sydney Cricket Ground, where an attendance of between 50 and 60 thousand people was not unusual. The action of the League people might result in the tour ending in failure.
