The Wanganui Jockey Club's Winter Meeting opened to-day, in unfavourable weather. Ixaiu set m last night, and continued steadily. . The attendance is fair. The track is on the heavy side. Results :—
Puma Hack Handicap, of 200 soys; six furlongs. First division.—Alabama, 7.11, 1; JUangi Sarto, 7.0, 2; Oiuraghmore, 8.1, 3. All startpd. Won by a length, a neck between second and third. Time, lmiii 17sec. Second Division : Euphonium, 9.5, 1; Willow-Wai, 8.16, 2; Tempeau, 7:9, 3. ■ . All started. A length each way. Time, lmin 17 3-ssee. Hack Steeplechase Handicap, of 200 soys; two miles. —Bonibrook, 10.7, 1; Sansalino, 9.9, 2; Lady Comet, 9.0, 3. Scratched, Pouri, Hoiho. Won by half a head, six lengths between second and third." Time, 4min 5 4-ssec.
Wanganui Steeplechase : Landbird, 10.11, 1; Master Peter, 10.5, 2; Tuki, 9.6, 3. Scratched : White Ranger. Won by three lengths,- half a length between second and third. Time, 6min 13sec.
