SYDNEY,. 20th May. Coincident with the plague of mice in the wheat areas of the Biverina, a disease has become prevalent among the children, known locally as mouse disease. The Sydney City Health Officer states that it is scientifically known as favus, and is due to a fungus which affects the hair follicles, causing sores on the body. Cats and mice are both spreaders of the disease.
