MATRICULATION AGE
RAISED TO SEVENTEEN.

CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. By eleven votes to seven, the University Senate this morning expressed approval of raising the matriculation age from sixteen to seventeen, on the motion of Professor Hunter, who said they were getting into the universities manypupils with immaturity of mind. They would greatly benefit from another year at school.
