HATAITAI.
There were twenty-one householders present at the Hataitai meeting. Mr.\ Searle occupied the chair.
The following committee was elected: —Messrs. H. E. Avery, L. J. Brabin, J. F. Burton, W. E. Cathie, A. E. Cook, M. Gandar, A. J. Murrell, F. •N. Nichols, H. R. Sea-rle. Mr. H. R. Searle was re-elected chairman, and Mr. A. B. Croker secretary.
The remits of the Wellington School Committees' Association were both unanimously carried.
With respect to the second remit, dealing with the deduction by the board of 10 per cent, from the annual grant for incidental expenses, the chairman pointed out that in the case of the Hataitai school this would amount to £13, and that during the last twelve months the only expenditure by the board was £4 5s 6d for water rates, and that £3 6s 9d of tbnt amount was for four months when the water was allowed to run to waste, despite repeated applications to the board to rectify this matter. This financial year's water rates would not exceed £2, hence it was obvious that the difference (£11) was being detained by the board, for which the school would receive no benefit.
