"THE DIGGER EARL."
Next Friday the initial screening of Beaumont Smith's great production, "The Digger Earl," will lake place at the Tivoli Theatre. Beaumont Smith as a producer is fast coming to the front, and in this Mm lie has really excelled himself. The story is full of human interest with a leavening of good, clean com-' edy. The plot, briefly, is about a young scipu of the English nobility, who, "fed up" with things generally," starts on a voyage around the world. On the schooner comisg- out to Australia lie meets Bill, "a digger." A friendship eventuates, and oil arrival in Sydney the Earl induces Bill to change places with him. From this point the story advances in a.series of humorous but very human swnos, which, of course, end "happily. Bill is played by Arthur Tanchert, who will be well remembered as "Sentimental Bloke," whilst Gordon Collingridge, well known in Australian films, is the Earl. Two very pretty girls in Lotus Thompson and Heather Jones are also in the cast. The former is now a member of the Hal Eoach Studios in Los Angeles, and recently received much publicity through the fact, of her placing a corrosive acid on her le^s to destroy their beauty. Tho season will last for one week only, two performances being given daily.
