From the first, playing against the wind, they gamed possession of the ball and repeat edly threatened their opponents' goal; a fine shot fro m Slater on the right wing finally reaching the net after only a few minutes' play. Wellington retaliated by ..instituting some pretty passing movements wh.ch however, lacked tlie neceseary fimsh. Smith, on Hutt's left wine > Portly afterwards'found the net agate' and Pringle, Hutt's inside right foil lowed suit .just, before half-time. Hutt 3, Wellington 0.
