Councillors W. H. Bennett, F. Meadowcroit, J. Burns, and J. Aston, and Mr. I<\ W. Manton, Civic League candidates for the City Council, addressed » moderate attendance at the Seatoun Kiosk last evening. Mr. J. C. -Morrison presided.

Councillor Meadow-croft spoke of the work of the various council committees, and outlined the general principles of civic administration. Speakin" of tramway matters. Councillor Meadowcroft maintained that long-distance tram lares, as to Seatoun or Karon, should be reduced in order that people might be encouraged to live away from congested areas. He considered it ridiculous that transfer tram tickets had not been introduced in Wellington. He considered that a trained .organiser should be appointed as city manager, even it it were necessary to nay the officer £2000 per annum. Councillor Aston particularly stressed the advisability of full suppoVt for the roading loan, and advocated the establishment of :i publicity committee of the council to advertise the city. He urged the use of municipal buses to link up tlio end of. the tram lines and act as feeders. Mr. Manton dealt with the question of "party" in civic affairs, and advised the meeting to vote for those candidates who stood for city advancement, not for those who stood for "party."
