Ho referred to the proposed loan of £200,000, and expressed the hope that the ratepayers would support this proposal, which would mean more money at the disposal of the council to spend on the suburban areas.

Mr. Goldsmith dealt with the many needs of the Mornington and Vogeltown districts, which he staled had in the past been sadly neglected. Not only were these places difficult of access, but when one finally did arrive, it was necessary to walk on the roads, as there were no lootpaths. The speaker promised, if elected, to advocate playing areas for the children of the district

Mr. Troup said he' failed to see the sense m the council calling for a, vote on a loan which was not to bo raised for eleven year-.. The speaker thought that two. years between the voting and the raising of the- loan was cpjite lone enough. Why should the water rate today be 64 per cent, more than it was ten years ago? This was a. matter which the speaker thought required attention. Mr. Mitchell said that although he was not .i candidate for the council—that had been postponed—he desired to impress upon electors the necessity of their supporting the £200,000 loan proposal Every item on the loan schedule was necessary, and he implored the electors to give their support to the proposal. A hearty vote of thanks to the speakers was carried by acclamation.
