LOOMING IN AUSTRALIA

VOLUMNIA STORM CENTRE

OF APPROACHING TROUBLE.

(UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPIRIOHT.)

(Received 19th March, 10 a.m.)

SYDNEY, This Day,

The Seamen's Union has decided to declare the steamer Eromanga "black." It is learned that it is unlikely that members of the Stewards and Pantrymen's Association will man the Eromanga in view of the attitude adopted by the seamen. The local seamen are confident that they will be able to enlist the sympathy and support of all the maritime bodies in this and other States.

The Returned Soldiers' Watersiders' Union, however, has sufficient seamen in its ranks to man both the Eromanga and the Volumnia, and also anticipates little trouble in providing men for the other departments, if requested to do so. : A union official states that many returned soldiers engaged in the carrying business in the city and suburbs have offered to convey the Volumnia's cargo to consignees, despite the Trolly and Draymen's Union's decision.
