DAIRY CONFERENCE

TO BE HELD AT HAWERA.

For many years the annual conference of the National Dairy Association was held at Palmerston North, simultaneously with the Winter Show; but a couple of yoars ago it \va* decided by conference that the next meeting should be held at Auckland, and this was done last June. The question of meeting in smaller centres had been raised at the conference from time to time, but the difficulty of finding accommodation was generally raised if a country town": was named. However, the conference at Auckland decided to meet at Hawera this year, and the Grand Theatre' has been chosen as the place of assembly. In addition to the usual business of the association, conference will be addressed by Mr. W. Grounds, chairman of the Dairy Control Board, on control of' exports. An interesting and important discussion is expected to result from that address, now that the producers appear to,be learning more about what is intended by control of export*. Mr. W. R. Kennedy will give an address on legal matters of special interest to dairy companies. The chairman, Mr. A. Morton, whose annual speeches and reviews of .the industry were a great feature >of the conferences in past years, being absent in England, the adoption- of the report and balance-sheet will be moved by Mr. J. B. . Murdoch (Jolls), acting-chairman of the association. . Representatives of cooperative and proprietary companies from all parts of the Dominion and other' members of the association will attend. Special concessions have been jpiade by the Hawera Show Committee to members of the association. ■' .
