METHODIST CHURCH
The Rev. C. Eaton presided over a good attendance of officials at the Taranaki Street Church on Monday evening. The total membership showed a slight increase at 697, despite the removal-of an unusual number of members: The removal of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Thomp-. son to Nelson was an especial loss, and thanks were expressed for their valuable work for home and foreign missions. Mr.. E. Upton was elected as circuit secretary for the young people's departs ment. Arrangements were made to hold harvest festivals during, the quarter. The home mission effort realised' £187 and foreign missions £287, a considerable increase on the previous year. Messrs. Mourant and Herron were re-elected as circuit stewards, and were appointed as representatives to conference, with Messrs. C Burton.' and' Burley as substitutes. A-further report was submitted on the envelope system, and the oommittee were instructed to bring down a budget for the next meeting.
