HOWARD ELLIOTT CASE
ACTION AGAINST "NEW ZEALAND WOEKER" ADJOURNED.
The case brought by the Rev. Howard Elliott against "The New Zealand Worker" Printinpr and Publishing Company, Ltd., Wellington, and the publisher, John Glover, in respect of al-. legedly defamatory statements published in the "Worker," was mentioned again in the Magistrate's Court to-day. The plaintiff claims £100 damages, alleging as defamatory statements .published in "The New Zealand Worker" on 30th July last in a report of an address delivered by Mr. H. E: Holland, M.P. The case was adjourned, by Mr. W. J. Riddell, S.M., on 25th September last, to permit plaintiffs to. apply to the Supreme Court for hearing of the" case before that Court. After hearing argument on the question the Supreme Court referred the case to the Magistrate for hearing. Hearing was fixed for to-day. . '"'■.'* When the case -was called Mr. D. C. Cullina'ne, on behalf* of' the plaintiff, asked for a further adjournment sine die. Mr. Watson, who was to take the case was unable to attend for family reasons. > .■-■-'.. On behalf of the defendants,. Mr. J. Q._ J. Malfroy, consented, and his Worship granted an adjournment sine die.
