In reference to the inquiry into the improved form of Purser in the Ciuillield Cup, it is stated that tho horse ran unplaced in the Coongy Handicap three days previous, and did not appear lo be ill all dangerous during the running of the racej It -was staled afterwards that 11. stride.and had him in a good position when Cairns was temporarily blinded by being struck in the eyes with mud. He did nob know where he was until the horses entered the straight, when it was too late to make any effort to win. Another reason offered is; that the horse arrived from Sydney only t*o days previous to the race and had not recovered from the voyage.
