NEW DAIRY LEGISLATION

A STATEMENT BY THE BANKS.

In giving his reasons for the holding up of the Dairy Industry Amendment Bill, Mr. T. M. Wilford is reported to have said that the measure was another Bill of the banks and that the banks were at the back of the proposed legislation, because of certain financial conditions that have sprung up in regard to a certain institution in which they have a particular interest.

"The Post" is authorised by the chairman of the Associated Banks to give an emphatic denial to Mr. Wilford's suggestion as reported. They had, as a matter of fact, nothing whatever to do with the Bill. The reasons for the Bill are plainly endorsed on the measure.
