FUNERAL OF THE LATE MRS. MOORHOUSE

The funeral of the late Mrs. Jessie Moorhouse, wife of Mr. W. H. Sefton Moorhouse, took place to-day. There was a large attendance at St. Peter's Church—representative of some of the oldest Wellington families—where the first portion of the burial service was held, the vicar, the Rev. H. Watson, officiating. The "Dead March in Saul" was played by the acting organist, Mr. F. W. Rowley. The late Mrs. Moorhouse had for many years been connected with a number of charitable and philanthropic movements in the city, and her people had been connected with St. Peter's parish during all the years of its existence. A number of members of St. John Ambulance Brigade attended in uniform, and lined, the entrance of the church as the funeral cortege passed out. The Red Cross, District Nursing Guild, Convalescent Home, Boys' Institute, and other societies were all represented. The chief mourners were : Sir George Hunter, Mr. Paul Hunter (brothers), Messrs. W. E. Bethune, R. H. Hunter, G. E. Hunter (cousins), Cyril Hunter (nephew), and J- P. Jlaxwell (brother-in-law). Amongst those present were : Messrs R. D. D. M'Lean, R. A. Wright, M.P. (Mayor), L. P. Blundell, W. Ferguson J. P. Firth, W. H. Fisher, O. S. Watkins, W. Barton, H. H. Seed, Rev. H. Van Staveren, Rev. Dr. Kennedy Elliott, Dr. Duncan Stout, and others. The interment took place at Karori Cemetery, the service at the graveside being conducted by the Rev. U. Watson.
