(Received let October, 8 a.m.)
TOK.IO, 30th September. The Nippon Yusen Kaisha shipping dispute has been settled.
(Received Ist October, 11 a.m.)
TOKIO, 30th September.
The report that a final settlement of the Nippon Yusen Kaisha had been reached is stated to be premature, though it is true that the mediators for the company and the representatives of the dissatisfied officials have reached an agreement whereby the latter have consented to withdraw their resignations on conditions which include equal treatment for the land' and marine staffs, and the recognition by the company of the principles set forth in the demands. The men who resigned have agreed to disband all employees' associations except those for scientific purposes. While it is expected that these terms will be accepted when presented to the company to-morrow morning, it is indicated that some of the men disapprove tlie actions of their representatives as to the terme, which include the temporary postponement of questions relating to the reinstatement of the men dismissed, and the future position of the president, whose resignation was demanded.
