MENTAL HOSPITALS
In the course of a reply to "Digger," 'Colonel T. W. M'Donald, in a letter to The Post," contradicts the statements of the former correspondent that there was no other suitable place but an asylum for tho returned soldiers who were committed; that someone hot now in the Dominion was responsible for the committal; and that the men's names were not entered in the records. Mr. M'Donald 'reiterates his intention of having the whole business investigated. In reply to "Digger's" question: "Whatwould Colonel M'Donald have done with these cases?" he states: "I.would have done what the authorities officially, stated they would do, and what' the official ' reports to Parliament said had been done, namely, treated them in the hospital which was specially provided for that purpose solely. And I .would have done what old_ England did for her sons under similar circumstances, namely, give them tho best treatmentwhich. modern medical science; could devise, absolutely : apart from any mental institution."
