DOMINION CONFERENCE

EFFECT OF BOUNDARY DISPUTE

■MEETING: PURELY CONSULTATIVE.

(UNITED. PRBSB ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.) (ABSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received 11th September, 12.15 p.m.) ' . LONDON, 10th September. . Ireland is delaying the Dominions Conference. Every Dominion has accepted- Mr. Thomas's invitation except the Irish Free State. Australia and New Zealand are agreeable to the holding of a Conference in October or.'November, preferably October; South Africa suggests February. Canada and Newfoundland are agreeable to any date, because they are within easy distance. The~ reason for the Free State's hesitancy is more immediately concerned ! with the boundary question, pending the. decision of which, it does not favour participating in inter-Imperial affairs. The Colonial Office strongly emphasises that the purpose of the Conference is only consultative, and will be -restricted solely to foreign affairs, to prepare a basis of a report to be presented at the next Imperial Conference, probably in 1925. Pending unanimous acceptance, the Colonial Office is deferring tho preparation of the agenda. -.-. ■. .
