SOCCER BENEFIT CONCERT.

An appreciation of the work that is being done to foster Soccer- football from fourth grade teams .downwards was expressed last night in the large audience which filled the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall, when a concert was held in aid of' the Boys' Association football funds. The chairman (the Hon. C. H. Izard) briefly explained how the promoters, the boys' sub-com-mittee, were desirous of raising funds to pay the expenses of the boys' travel-1 ling teams, and tho expenses incurred with Boys' Association football generally. An enjoyable programme was presented, the following contributing items : Miss E. Boyce (piano solo); Miss Gwen Esau (soug); Miss Gladys Smythe (dance); Mr. L. Hallow (humoroua items,); Misses Breece (duet), Miss Harbroo (song), Mr. Wilkinson (humorous song), Misses Boyce and Conlon (piano duet), Master Leslie Shepherd (monologue), Mr. J. Jenkins (song), The Melody Four (ukulele quartette), Miss Halley. Power (song), Master George Power (song), Mr. A. Chalk (song). Mr. Hawkins (song), Marist Bros.' choirs (Newtown and Thorndon), comedietta (Mr. L.'Power and Miss L. M'lntyre), and selections by tho Miramar Brass Brind.
