CLAN MACMILLAN LOST
UNEXPLAINED FOUNDERING
NO TRACE OF SHIP OR BOATS.

The steamer Leicestershire reports having received an 5.0.5.. from the steamer Clan'Macmillan, stating that she was sinking 30 miles east of Table Island and 170.. miles from the Andamans Islands.
The Leicestershire steamed to the position indicated and saw no sign of the Clan Macmillan or of boats, but is continuing the search.
A report from the Andamans states that boats were sighted off the islands.

DELHI, 22nd June. The Clan Macmillan was three days out from Calcutta, bound for Fiji. She had no passengers. The crew numbered about sixty.
The Chief Port Officer has received no further news of the ship or of the boats. He points out that the reports indicate fine weather in the ar^a in which the ship sank, and the cause of the sinking remains unknown.
The Clan Macmillan, of 4525 tons, belongs to the Clan Line and is owned by Messrs. Cayzer, Irvine, and Co.
