THE COMPETITIONS
At a. recent meeting of the Executive Council of the Wellington Competitions Society it was resolved that if suitable arrangements can be made poi anil canoe dunces will be included in the programme. Several letters were received complimenting the executive on their action in instituting a class for secondary schoo^ choirs, for which a speoial shield has been donated by Messrs. Nimmo and Sons. The secretary stated that since tbe society has become affiliated with the British Federation of Musical Competition Festivals he has received a very .large number of sample copies of all classes of music suitable for competition purposes from the Ifuding publishers of England ami Scot-land: these will be invaluable when selecting the test items for next year.. Several applications were received requesting that tha time limit for own selection items be extended. It was resolved that, the time limit as stated in the syllabus be strictly, adhered to.
