DISCONCERTING TO PLAYERS.
LONDON, 19th June. The'secretary of the Lawn Tennis Association, in an official letter to the Press says as a result of the increased popularity of tennis and consequent on the large1 attendance at tournaments, a serious difficulty has arisen in regard to applause. It is most disconcerting and unnervin"for players to hear applause at the wrong time, and in the interests of the game he appeals to spectators not to applaud double fault 3or rallies when a ball hits the top of the net and falls over and is untakeable, and finally not'to confine applause to one of the competitors.
