HOME SECRETARY'S STATEMENT

LONDON, 19th June. Mr. Arthur Henderson, Homo Secretary, was closely questioned in the House of Commons by objectors to the steer-roping contests at Wembley. Ho said that not only the S.P.C.A. but the police were applying for summonses 'in respect of cases of alleged cruelty. ?He had. no power to prohibit such contests, but he had strongly requested the rodeo authorities to, suspend the steerrroping until the summonses were disposed of.
