The monthly sitting of the Petone Magistrate's Court was held yesterday, before Mr. 0. It. Orr Walker, S.M. Ernest Kent, charged.with tho theft pt a case' o'£ gin from Mr. P. Farlev, a carrier, was admitted ,to probation" for one -year, On condition'that he submitted to a prohibition order and paid the owner, of the liquor "tho sum.of .£2 .17s. On charges of transacting business, by way-of selling cigarettes on Sunday, E. Hill, H. M. Waddington. L.- N;. -Dean, .md C. C. Sage were each fined 10s. with. 7s-costs. ■ .'

Muir, 30s. with 7s costs. Defendants, were represented by Mr. W. P.. Coles.

A. Gough, for allowing stock to wander on the public road, was fined 15s, with 7s costs.'
