VICTORIA CLUB
The twenty-seventh annual report of the directors of the Victoria Club comments upon an increase in the debit-bal-ance, but points. out that items in this year's expenditure, totalling more than £71, are for work authorised by last year's directors and not quite finished when the present committee took office. These amounts should have appeared in the last balance-sheet as outstanding liabilities, and if they had been taken into account, the debit balance as at 31st May, 1923, would have been £160 18s 9d. reduced to £119 4s at the close of the present year. During the year nine new members were elected, > while owing to resignations and other causes, eleven were struck off the roll. The membership, now stands at 109 active, three supernumerary, and one life member. Eegret is expressed at the death of Mr. A. W. Manning, secretary of the dub, in whoee demise the - club has suffered a severe loss.
