PREFERENCE DEBATE
LATEST GOVERNMENT , PROPOSAL DOMINIONS TO BE CONSULTED. . '. ' (REBTER'S. IELEGRAM.) (Received 18th June, 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, 17th June. .Continuing the debate in the House-of Commons on the Preference proposals, Mr. Lloyd George pointed out that .the resolutions, comprised the whole of the Preference proposals of the Imperial Economic Conference. Ho quoted'tha opinions of the Dominion Premiers at the Conference in favour of Preference, and urged that the House should not go back on the considered view of the Conference. Mr. J. H. Thomas, Secretary for the Colonies, said that, while the resolutions would be left to the free vote of the House, and the Government would accept the verdict, the' Government themselves proposed to vote1 against the resolutions. He announced that the Government had reconsidered its earlier decision in regard to the Economic Committee, and was prepared, if the Dominions so.desired; to consider the question, not on the lines of a committee as proposed, but perhaps on^the line's of an ad hoc body, something like the Shipping Board. The Dominions would, however, be consulted in regard to the matter.
