The Hon. W. Nosworthy (Minister of Agriculture) will attend the National Dairy' Show at Palmerston North.

Mr. N. Elmslie, British Trade Commissioner in Ne\v Zealand, is visiting Palmerston "North, and will be absent from Wellington for a few days.

Mr.. T. M. Wilford, M.P., Leader of the Opposition, will leave for the South to-night on a week's political campaign in the interests of Liberal-Labour Party.

Mr. J. A. Gihnour, Registrar of the Arbitration Court, has been appointed secretary of the Railway Wa"es Inquiry Board.

The Rev. Father J. Stewart. S.M., has been appointed parish priest at Whangarei, North Auckland, and will leave Christchurch this week. For the last four years he has been attached to St. Mary's Parish, Christchurch.

Though Mr.' T. D. Burnett, M.P. for Temuka, is recovering from the complaint for which he recently underwent an operation, his recovery is not so rapid as he had anticipated it" would be. Mr. Burnett is still in Stafford Hospital, Dunedin.

Mr. R. W. Dalton, formerly British Trade Commissioner for Canada, and now Commissioner in Australia, left Wellington -for Auckland to-day.- He has been meeting many New Zealand friends made during his term of office of British Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, and he is now. on his way to Melbourne, via Auckland and Sydney.

The funeral of the lato Mr. G. E. James, assistant traffic manager of tramways, took place yesterday morning.* About 200 members of the uniformed staff of the tramways attended, headed by' the Tramways Band, which played at intervals, "The Dead March in Saul," and "The Garland of Flowers." The pall-bearers were Tramway-Inspectors Tucker, Patchett, Liardet and Hughes, and there "were present Mr. M. Cable, general manager'of tramways, Mr. R. D. Peterson, assistant manager and accountant, Mr. R. D. M'Gillivray^ chief tramways traffic manager. Apart from the Tramways Department, the City Corporation staffs were represented by the Town Clerk.(Mr. J. R. Palmer), the City Solicitor (Mr. J. O'Shea), the City Engineer (Mr. A. J. Paterson), and the car shed superintendent, Mr. H. Leah. The City Council was represented by Councillors T. Forsyth, W. H Bennett, and A. W. Parton. The Rev. E. Etheridge, of the Baptist Church, conducted the funeral service at the crematorium. There was a large attendance of members of the Orange fraternity present, and at the conclusion of the Baptist service a service was conducted on behalf of the lodge. The Mayor (Mr. R. A. Wright) was unable to attend, as he was out of town for the week-end.
