CANADA URGED TO ACTIVITY.

(REUTERS XELEGR.VJI.) _ T T OTTAWA, 12th June. • ll' Pr Logan (Liber'il) advocated in the House of Commons that the present trade, agreement with the West Indies should be- cancelled, and a commercial union entered into, such as exists between the United States and her tropical possessions. He advocated placing, trade agents on nil the largei- JsImlies. The ships of the Government admn ports of all goods from the W e st Indies. The ships of the Government merchant marine should be reconditioned, or others purchased suitable for this trade, instead of subsidising other companies. Mr. Logan read a letter from a prominent citizen of Kingston Jamaica, stating that if "the United States did not secure political control of the islands she would have them by commercial conquest, through Canada's i neglect of her opportunity. The Ministry of Railways announces that a full investigation of the subject would be made during the recess.
