ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS

w ' • DUNEDIN, ,11th April. Jennie Wright, \ single, aged about 50, died ouddenly afc noon in ' Police street to-day, when .on her way back to work. Deceased had complained of shortness of breath. At the inquest, medical evidence was given that death was due to heart failure, aud ,a verdict was returned accordingly. i John Leslie, a single man, 28 years of age,, was admitted to the; hospital this _ afternoon suffering from injuries to his back and one shoulder. He came in contact with 1 a "live" electric wire, and fell from a telegraph pole at a height of about 30 feet, being picked up unconscious. Later- he regained consciousness, and was found to be suffering mainly from shock. He is employed by the Post and Telegraph Department. • : ■ - ' INVERCARGILL, 11th April. At the inquest on Owen Voight, the jockey, who was killed through Navy Cut. falling in the, Myross Welter, ai verdict of accidental death was return-' cd. The medical evidence showed that death was due to hemorrhage on the brain. Apparently the fall was caused by Navy Cut striking the heels of the horse in front. CHRISTCHTJRCH, This Day. G- Fantham,. a single man, was rid-, ing on a wagon at Kaiapoi when he fell, off, and was killed by the ■ wheel passing over him. . ' • • Richard John Annan, aged 58,: a labourer, was found in Moorhouse avenue, Christchurch, last night, suffering from severe injuries to his head, from which he died in hospital. It is'presumed he was leaning out of the car near a stopping place, and struck his head on a centre pole. .. ■ . 'r ,
