JAPAN'S REVIVAL
AFTER THE EARTHQUAKE !
NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL OUTLOOK
SHYNESS OF FOREIGN CAPITAL.
(UNITED IRESS ASSOCIATION COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALASD CABLE ASSOCIATION.) (Received 12th April, 10 a.m.) TOKIO, 11th April. . Yejiro Ono, /president of the Indus^ trial Bank of Japan, in an interview, said that the next two months will see a marked increase in the nation's industrial'activity. Nevertheless, the general recovery of industry is retarded by the high rates of interest. The stabilisation of the yen at about 42 cents, however, enables manufacturers "to compete successfully in neighbouring markets. It was, he said, somewhat surprising that foreign capital was comparatively uninterested in Japanese private industrial stocks, which now yielded 10 per cent., representing an increase'of 3 per cent, above tlie returns before the earthquake. It was probable that Japan would, within two years, seek another largo foreign loan. This would probably cause adverse trade balances, which would gradually decrease and permit Japan ultimately to recover.
