EVANS BAY YACHT CLUB,
The. racing programme of the Evans Bay-Yacht and Motor Boat Club was concluded last Saturday, when a steady southerly breeze favoured the competing yachts. Races for each class'were held,.: but the entries in the 18-foot and under,1 and motor-boat classes' were very poor, The resnits of the ': principal yacht races were as follow, corrected finishing times being, given':—Amai. (40min), 4hr ' 4min 48sec, 1; Seabird < (21-min), 4hr 13min 35sec, 2; Wairera (13min), 41u18min,. 3; Venus (20min), 4hr 18min,4; Romp (12min), 4hr 20min'15sec, 6; White' Heather (scr), 4hr 29min 30sec, 6. Amai's win was a very popular one. and all credit is due to her crew. * ' The race for the. Levin Cup between boats of the centre-board class was won by Nonsuch '(handicap 2Cfcnin) ) .which finished seventeen minutes ahead •' of ithe scratch boat Coall.> ■ .' , Tlie Newcombe Cup, for competition between niot-or . boats, . was won by Nikau. " ' ■ . : .. ' Very, little.cruising will be -done oy thp Evans Bay fleet'at Easter. Several of the boats will take piirt in the demonstration aa' the Naval Squadron enters the harbour, but the difficulty in-arr-anging, for crews to get away, from work makes it impossible'for some yachts to participate.
