At a meeting of the Hutt County Council yesterday, Councillor Campbell moved that a committee, consisting of tlio chairman and Councillors Mackay and Campbell lie set 'up to go into the matter o£ the appointment of a qualified engineer to devote his whole time to the county work, and | that the committee bring forward a policy of future works ; and arrange improved office accommodation. ■■'■ Councillor Campbell stressed the need for an engineer to carry out the whole of the council's work. At prej sent there was no unified system, and the employment of an engineer wouui save expense. TJhe initiation of tha Highways Board rendered the appointj ment of an engineer the more imperative.
