NAVAL TRIBUTE TO L 24.
With'H.M,S. Roes, off Portland, submarines, mine-sweepers, sloops, and pat-' rol boats recently took part in a last and. post impressive tribute to the 43 officers and men of Submarine L 24 over the spot, 11 miles sooth of Portland Bill, where the ■. wrecked submarine tragically went to her last- berth on 10tK January. The ceremony, took place 'in mist and rain,'and took form of. dropping over the side, of the>Ross a beautiful, wreath of white lilies- arid '•chrysanthemums, which the troubled waters were billowing and strewing" their white petals .as the . ships left the .'spot.
