SYDNEY, 9th March,
A shooting . affray has occurred near Appin, 30 miles south-west of Sydney. Constable Flynn and an engineer named Clift were conveying a prisoner liimed William Simpson, arrested for breaking and entering at Ca-mpbelltown, when lie* suddenly drew a revolver, shot Flynn dead, seriously wounded.. Clift, and then escaped. Later, he was recaptured. "■'
