"SAND DRIFT" IN CITY STREET
Shopkeepers and pedestrians in Lambton quay are experiencing some inconvenience from a nuisance similar to that which has often been complained of in Thorndon quay. Some days ago the Corporation authorities re-tarred the road surface in Lambton quay between Kelburn avenue and the Government Buildings, and heavy sand was liberally strewn over the tar. Unfortunately wind and rain have carried the sand which was not held by the new coating of tar to bank up on^the western side of the Quay, and the smaller particles of dust are blown into the air and into the shops of retailers and the eyes of pas-sers-by every time a strong gust of wind occurs. The new tar is now dry, and it is suggested by people affected by the nuisance that the superfluous sand should be removed for ose elsewhere.
