DAIRY PRODUCE
FIRST MEETING OF CONTROL BOARD.
The first meeting of the recently-con-stituted Dairy Produce Control Board i was commenced this morning, at the Dominion Fanners'. Institute. The Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. W. Nosworthyj' presided during the preliminary proceedings, and members present were as follow:—North Island,1 Messrs. W. Goodfellow (Hamilton), W. Grounds (Hokianga), H. D. ForsythJEltham), W. C.' -Motion (Waduku), W,,,A. .lorns (Martinborbugh), and K. Dalrymple (Bulls); . South Island, Messrs. J. R. Thacker (Akaroa), J. R. Hamilton (Southland), and J. Fisher-(Otautau); Government representatives, Messrs. 0. Hawken, M.P. (New Plymouth), and Wi E. Reynolds (Dunedin). .The Adt, provides that the GovernorGeneral may appoint a representative of commercial \interests, but the appointment is^not mandatory, and the seat has not vet been filled. Mr. Grounds was elected chairman, and Mr. T. C. Brash, secretary of the National Dairy Association, was appointed acting-secretary tov the board. ' The most important business discussed this morning was the question of the reLpresentation of the dairy industry at the British Empire Exhibition. The board decided to take steps to see that the industry is adequately represented.. The matter was formerly under the consideration 'of the dairy organisations, but after the passage of the Dairy Control Bill through Parliament, it was held over until the board should assume oi^ce.
