PAREMATA BOATING CLUB
1 The Paremata Boating Clug was ;again favoured with fine weather for its weekend sailing and motor-boat races. The motor-boat race proved very exciting, only a few seconds separating the first and second boats as they passed the finishing line, the result being a win for Mr. A. Barber's Tui, with M,t. ,E. O'Connor's Titania a good second. The sailing race was heTU on the outer course, from Karehana Bay, eight boats facing the starter, as follow:—Mr. Sterling's Queenie (scr), Mr.. Jack's Thelma (lmin), Mr. .Kinneburgh's Dot (2min), Mr. J. Sharp's ' Inez (4min), lav.' Waddel's Nancy (lOmin), Mr. Smith's Arahiwi (14min)/Mr. Fisk's Wairau (20min), Mr. Mildfnhall's Huia (30min). AH the boats got well away to time, with the exception of Thelma, which lost quite two minutes at the post. Dot was sailed well, and^proved herself a flyer: the alterations effected during the week by her owner had the desired effect, and she overhauled her opponents, except Nancy, on the first round, her time being 27^min. She was followed by Inez, Queenie, Thelma, Arahiwi, and Wairau. Dot overhauled Nancy after passing the reef mark, and arrived home first, with Nancy second,'Queenie third Inez a close fourth, followed a few seconds later by Thelma. Competition for the Moorhause Cup for sailing and mo-tor-boats will be held this week
