THORNOON RECLAMATION
Every little helps, and though the comparatively trifling amount of spoil which the Railway Department is now dumping at Thorndon will not be noticed when the reclamation is completed some time—still, it will help. This spoil is being brought down from Ngaio, where, in addition to the work going on in the building of the subway under the railway line, another considerable improvement is being carried out in a levelling which will later allow of an extension of the existing loop, which is just on the short side for the comfortable handling of long trains on the main line.
