A TARANAKI PROJECT.
(II TELIGRAPH.—msa ASSOCIATION.)
_ NEW PLYMOUTH, 12th Dec. During the past few weeks negotiations have been going on for the amalgamation of the Taranaki Farmers' Meat Company (New Plymouth) and the Patea Freezing Works Company. To-day a basis of agreement was reached between the directors of the respective companies, subject, however, to the approval of the Bank of New Zealand, which is largely interested hi both companies, and to the confirmation of the shareholders of the respective companies. It is understood that during the coming season the Taranaki Company will" send its supplies to Patea for freezing, and that the opportunity will be taken to put .the New Plymouth works in order for the following season, when the Patea works will be closed down permanently, and such of the plant as is required will be transferred to New Plymouth, ar/d the remainder disposed of. Further capital will be required, but no difficulty is expected in securing it.
