ALL HELP WELCOMED.
The Radium (Radiation) Appeal Fund total to date, £2698 11s lid, includes another case of individual initiative. Mr. N. G. Key forwards £6 Is, the proceeds of a dance which he organised' at Island Bay; his brothers supplied the music free of cost, and the refreshments and decorations were also free. This contribution was mentioned, with thanks, at a meeting last evening of the Radium (Radiation) Appeal Committee, which also noted with satisfaction that Hataitai hopes to score its second century.
There were present at the meeting Mr. W. Stuart Wilson (in the chair, m the absence of the Mayor), Mesdames M Vicar, Johannes Andersen, and Rist; Sir John Luke, Mr. F. Castle (chairman of the Wellington Hospital Board), Dr. B. Ewen, Dr. P. D. Cameron, Mr. K. C. Morpeth, and Mr. B. Egley. On the motion of Sir John Luke, it was decided to try to enlist by cablegiam (as suggested by Dr. Marsden) the help of Sir Ernest Rutherford in the matter of buying guaranteed Radium at the cheapest available price. Following on the suggestion of the Rev. Robert Inglis, chairman of the Ministers' Association, the committee will approach the Churches individually for help.
Sir John Luke and Dr. Ewen will address a public meeting to be arranged by the Eastbourne Borough Council. The following centres have been written to with a view of meetings being held at the dates mentioned:—Palmerston North, Friday, 14th December; Feilding, Saturday, 15th December; Marton, Monday, 17th December: Woodville, Tuesday, 18th December; Dannevirke, Wednesday, 19th December ; Hastings, Thursday, 20th' December; Napier, Friday, 21st December; Levin, Saturday, 22nd December.
