EVANS BAY YACHT CLUB

The 1923-24 season of the ?vans Bay Yacht and Motor-boat Club was opened ■with the usual ceremony on Saturday afternoon. In the absence of the patron, Mr. A. A. George, Mr. A. J. Ibbotson, the commodore, in a few words declared the ssaßon open. He referred to the great strides made by the club since its formation four years ago, and mentioned the chief milestones in the club's history. The coming season, he said, promised to be the most successful yet experienced. There was a large .gathering of friends and members from other clubs, ah"cL a;. Very pleasant afternoon-was spent. After afternoon tea had been served m the clubhouse, a programme of novelty- sports created much amusement; the chief items being a greasy pole- competition and. an apple-eating competition.
