PLIMMERTON
The new Post and Telegraph Office at Plunmerton has been completed. Mr. Batten (postmaster), late of Carterton, arrived last Wednesday, and has been making preparations prior to opening the new office this morning. For the past fortnight a construction party of the P. and T. Department, under the supervision of Mr. Miller, has been engaged in erecting poles, and so far over twenty telephone subscribers are to be connected, and it is anticipated a further number will join up by Christmas. Last Wednesday night the residents of Plimmerton entertained Mrs. Bauer at a social evening, held in the New Hall. Items were rendered by Misses Amore, Edser, Quirk, and Messrs. Tinney and Meek. First-class music was played by Mr. F. Parrot, and Mr. Alex. Lomas officiated as M.C.
