HOSPITAL STAFF

NEW ARRANGEMENTS SUG'

GESTED.

In moving " that the board take into its serious consideration the supplementing and reorganising of its medical staff" the Bey. H. Van Staveren, at a meeting of the Hospital Board yesterday, advocated the appointment of two experienced medical men to assist the Medical Superintendent, men who would give their whole time to hospital work. He thought the first assistant should receive a salary of £800, increasing to £900 a year, and that the second' assistant should receive £700, increasing to £800 a year. The board could not now get properly experienced men at £300 or £400 a year. Mr. Butler recommended that, in the event of the motion being adopted, it be referred to the Hospital Committee for consideration and report. The Bey. H. Van Staveren replied that he was perfectly willing to agree to that suggestion. /Tha Rev. J, Kennedy Elliott urged that further consideration of the,, matter be deferred for the present. The motion was agreed .to, and was referred to .the Hospital Committee for consideration.
