INDECENT ASSAULTS

WANGANUI, This Day. Joe Keri, who was found guilty of indecent assault, came before Sir Robert Stout, Chief Justice, for sentence to-day. His Honour said the case was a baa one for two reasons, making the Maori woman drunk and making untrue statements in the box. The prisoner had also behaved badly previously in trying to get a wife to leave her husband. Prisoner was sentenced to two years' reformative treatment.
DANNEVIRKE, This Day. In the Juvenile Court, a youth, 14$ years of age, was charged with indecently assaulting a young girl. Accused had peen employed at a picture theatre, and induced the girl to go inside the building during the day time, when the offence allegedly was committed. The charge was reduced to one of common assault, and the accused was admitted to probation for two years. The Magistrate, Mr. Stout, imposed the condition that accused is not to attend pictures or be connected with picture theatres during that period.
