v. (»T IItBORAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) I ; ASHBURTON, 22nd November. iiWhen diving into a swimming pool at Ashburtori: Domain,' John Brophy, a postal messenger, aged 17, struck a jagged. Bhpulder. of a .broken .bottle ,and severed a muscle at the knee. He was taken, to hospital, where he will remain for a-month, with the possibility of a permanent limp.
OAMARU, 22nd November. Miss Mowat, of Dunedin, was riding the Dunedin-owned horse Elaine in a jumping ■ competition at. the Oamaru Show ,to,day,. when at the animal came down..:. Miss Mowat was thrown heavily. She sustained concussion of the brain and was removed in an unconscious condition, to .a private hospital. The doctors are hopeful that she will recover; The horse Elaine subsequently won a jumping event.
..._, DUNEDIN, 22nd November. Mrs. Agnes Wight, a widow, aged 49, collapsed and died suddenly in Castle street" to-day" while walking with her sister. At an inquest a verdict was returned that, death was due to heart fail-ure-following-degeneration of the heart muscles'. " 'v
_, John Sayer; aged 22 years, while riding a motor-cycle on Tuesday, collided with a stationary tram. He received injuries to his head and a wrist, and died iv the hospital this' morning.
